  • Input Conversion: Variable Fixed DeivesDs take fixed AC power and convert it to DC using a rectifier. VSDs for DC motors can use the DC power directly.
  • Smoothing: The DC output is filtered by capacitors to create a smooth DC supply.
  • Output Conversion: An inverter then changes the DC back to AC, but with variable frequency (VFD) or voltage (DC VSD) to control motor speed.
  • Speed Control: By adjusting the frequency (VFD) or voltage (DC VSD), the motor’s speed is precisely controlled.
